What to expect
Your first visit is a formulation visit.
It is more than a diagnosis check. We want to understand your whole story, so the plan fits your life.
How care starts
-
Step 1: Send a request
Use our short request form. It asks only for your name, how to reach you, your state and which clinician you would like to see, if you have a preference.
-
Step 2: We reply by email
We reply within 1 business day. We check that we are a good fit for what you need. If we are not, we will say so and suggest where to look.
-
Step 3: Join the patient portal
We send you an invitation to our secure patient portal. There you read and sign the consent forms and our financial policy, get your Good Faith Estimate, and fill out a few short questionnaires about how you have been feeling.
-
Step 4: Your first evaluation
A 60-minute video visit. We ask what has happened, what has helped, what has harmed, what your body has been through, and what change would matter most to you.
-
Step 5: A plan you can read
We explain what we think is going on and what we recommend, and we write it down in the portal. Follow-up visits are usually 30 minutes, sometimes 15.
Good to know
- We see adults, 18 and older.
- Visits are by secure video. You need to be in California during every visit, because that is where our clinicians are licensed.
- Find a private, quiet place for your visit, with a steady internet connection.
- Video visits are not for emergencies. If you are in danger, call 911 or call or text 988.
What to bring
- A list of the medications you take now, with doses.
- Past psychiatric medications, if you remember them: how long, what dose, what happened.
- Any past diagnoses, hospital stays or test results you have.
- Your questions. Write them down, so none get lost.
